Before the British invaded India,it's the Mughal Empire in India.In this period,Some local governor separated from the Mughal Empire and declared independence,It provides British a convenient to conquer and colonize India.The British government took the advantage of the separatism of India,divided India into two parts: one part was directly under the rule of British,the other part was indirectly under the rule of British which was called the "princely states".Princely states plays a vital role in India during the British colonial rule.After the British colonists took the first step to conquer Indiain in1757,Until 1818,By implementing military conquest,signing a treaty of funding means to the Indian princely states,the British colonialists' dominant position in the Indian princely states can be established.The dominant position at the princely state further stimulate the British colonialists to the expansion,So they have more urgent request to turn India into a British production base of raw materials and commodities market.Therefore,the English settlers took the policy towards mergers.Implementation of princely states merger policy seriously damaged the interests of some feudal princely states princes,with the result that they participate in or even as a leader of the Indian Uprising.1857 India people's uprising makes British colonists realized the importance of the states.Therefore,the British colonists abandoned the Merger Policy on the States,turned to support.The thesis is divided into four chapters to discuss the United Kingdom's India states policy in nineteenth Century.The first chapter describes The former princely state of India in the formation of the British colonial rule.The second chapter discusses the evolution of Indian princely state policy;The third chapter discusses the characteristics of the evolution of the British Indian princely state policy;The fourth chapter expounds the influence of the evolution of British Indian Princely States policy.
