Tiger-Shaped Tally is the third historical drama of Guo Moruo' six series on the anti-Japanese war,which is adapted from the Biography of Lord Xinling in Shi Ji.It is a legendary story about Lord Xinling who got the commander's tally to relieve the state of Zhao.It is the product of the time with a strong political character.With the passage of time,its political color gradually faded and shifted to the art itself.Tiger-Shaped Tally's connotation was becoming richer and richer and it gradually established its classic position.The Acceptance history of Tiger-Shaped Tally displays in adaption(including the author's own modifications),performance and research following obvious phases,according to the characteristics,which can be divided into four periods that are the anti-Japanese war period,the Liberation War period,Seventeen years' construction period and after crushing the "Gang of Four".According to the four stages,this paper divides into four chapters except the introduction and conclusion.Then,each chapter is divided into several sections on the basis of the performance,script and adaptation.The author analyzes the acceptance and the variation of each phase by understanding the reasons behind the changes and combining the related aesthetics of reception.In the period of Anti-Japanese War,the acceptance of Tiger-Shaped Tally closely was linked with China's political situation with a strong political element.The venue was mainly concentrated in Chongqi and Yan'an where the government of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China was located in.The premiere in Chongqing was one of the most influential performances at this stage,which caused great repercussions.The preliminary stage was mainly around the theme of “take people as people” and the study of the main characters.The script is rarely studied.At that time,unity against Japan was the priority,so the criticism toward KMT(Kuomintang)implicated in the Tiger-Shaped Tally didn't get attention,evendeliberately avoided.In the period of liberation war,with the main contradiction's change,the elements that criticized the Kuomintang in the “Tiger-Shaped Tally “were attracting people's attention,which was manifested in performance and adaptation.The performance of the National Beigong troupes in Beijing and Tianjin in 1947 and the performance in People's Grand Hall in 1948 were two major performances at this stage.The performance even expanded to Beijing,Tianjin and Shijiazhuang.Guo Moruo had made the first large-scale amendment,further vilifying the dark characters implied in the script.The acceptance of the Tiger-Shaped Tally had similarity in the two phases.On the whole,the performance was given priority to the research.In the period of Seventeen years' construction,the performance was still in the first place with strong political elements,but the story of Tiger-Shaped Tally separated itself fromthe original intention given by Guo Moruo.Its performance was mainly used to support the show of the Biography of Lord Xinling to back up the Korean War and culture construction.The research on its dramas has contributed to the exploration of nationalization and added the elements against the Soviet Union and revisionism to Henan Opera,that was performed by Dongfeng troupe.Moreover,the performance region continued to spread even to foreign countries and Guo Moruo had done a large-scale change,focusing on colloquialism the language.The research steadily expanded,that pave the way for pluralistic study together with the previous studies.After crushing the "Gang of Four",the acceptance of Tiger-Shaped Tally focused to research and supplemented by the performance.The focus of Performance and research focus has evolved from the exploration of the implications to the art itself with fewer political elements.The purpose of the performance is to the memory and to honor the classic deduction.The research is directed at diversity to explore its educational significance,including the images,the function of the aesthetic education and cultural and historical knowledge within it.Tiger-Shaped Tally is a work with strong epochal characters which presented a good adaptability in its acceptance.
