The Research On Visual Narrative Aesthetic Features Of Dazu Carvings

Dazu carving is the most outstanding artworks of Chinese buddhist art,compared with Dunhuang and the Longmen Grottoes which looked solemn and gorgeous,Dazu carving represents the unique of aesthetic fun of late Buddhist age.The secularization and visual narrative pattern gives Dazu carvings unique value of aesthetics.Unlike the North China Buddhist statues,the "comic" type of group statues in Dazu carvings have the unique visual narrative research value.So the author's major object of study is the group statues' visual narrative evolution and aesthetics features of Dazu carvings especially in Baoding mountain.Beside taking Dafowan carvings in Baoding mountain as majot object of study,this article also refers to the visual narrative evolution and aesthetics features of single statue in Beishan carvings and Shizhuanshan Carvings.Dazu carvings went through the time changes from Wei and Jin dynasties to Sui and Tang dynasties which not only means the localization of Buddhism but also style evolution from solemnity to secularization.Rewarded as the world's intangible cultural heritage,Confucianism and Taoism statue embodies aesthetic and visual narrative style is unprecedented full of Chinese.However,the current research is still in the protection of cultural relics,hardware maintenance,tourism development and other aspects,but also some scholars feel that the Dazu stone carvings is a valuable heritage of visual statues,from the Dazu rock carvings and other aspects of art modeling.However,at present,few people have studied it from the perspective of visual narrative,so this paper discusses the Dazu rock carvings from the perspective of visual narrative.This paper is divided into four chapters,the first chapter tries to form the visual angle of narrative discourse from the Dazu rock carvings.The second chapter states from the subject dimension and the third chapter focus on the a secular narrative style influenced by Taoism.The research method of this study using the method of anthropology,based on in-depth analysis of Dazu visual narrative style,but also with the method of image interpretation and comparative research method to explore the Dazu rock carvings and the difference from Maijishan grottoes,Dunhuang grottoes,Yungang Grottoes.Through the discussion of this article,we draw the conclusion that the Dazu rock carvings,as the masterpieces of the late stone carvings in China,have reached the highest level in narrative aspect.The World Heritage Center Coordinator think it meets the requirements of reporting condition: "Buddhism,Taoism,Confucianism statues can truly reflect the social philosophy and China was,indeed,local customs and practices for Confucianism Taoism Grottoes statues.It reflects the profound philosophical system,and outstanding visual narrative style,Dazu carvings should be first recommend.
