The Involvement Of Technology In Body From Phenomenology Of Technology Perspectives

With the development of new technologies,the boundary between body and technology is gradually blurred.Meanwhile,understanding and analyzing the relationship between body and technology and related ethical issues become increasingly necessary.Body is the first place where we interact with the world,and technology has become our living environment,so that the study on relationship between body and technology should be done from the beginning of the interaction.Phenomenology provides us with a viable perspective to inveatigate the relationship between body and technology.The structure of "human-technology-world" was put forward by Don Ihde which gives us a framework for analyzing the relationship between human and the world,but the theory cannot explain the integration of the body and technology.Therefore,this article will consider body perception of technology with the example of biometric identification technology and propose a new schema of relationship between body and technology: involvement relationship which focuses on the integration of body and technology.The introduction reviews the exsisted research of relationship between body and technology and relevant ethical problems.The second chapter discusses Ihde's analysis of the structure of "human-technology-world " and its problems.Ihde's contribution is raising four basic kind of relationship between human and technology,but he overlooks the body perception,he also cannot explain sophisticated body perception of technology.In order to solve this problem,this chapter puts forward the importance of biological technology perspective and body perspective,and distinguishes the body perception and body perception of technology.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of biometric identification technology and the change of human-technology relationship,and proposes a new human-technology relationship,involvement relationship.This kind of relationship reveals a trend of integration between technology and body,which shows a integration of body and technology,the transparency of biological technology and the problem of body perception as the foundation of body perception of technology.We can combine the embodiment relationship and background relationship,which is trending to a biological relationship of human and technology.This chapter also makes assessments on involvement relationship.The fourth chapter talks about the enlightenment from technology involvement.Firstly,the essence of technology should be rethought because instrumentalism of technology and substantive theory of technology cannot explain new technology context of biometric identification technology.Secondly,descriptive analysis and normative analysis of philosophy of technology should be combined to promote the paradigm to integrate the descriptive of phenomenology of technology and the normative nature of technology ethics.Thirdly,technology designers and decision makers should internalize the sense of responsibility and technology supervisors should improve the system construction in order to achieve the internal link of technology design practice and technology ethics.
