| Officially in 2007,the “Dragon & Phoenix Wedding Candle” of Xiushan County was listed in the first batch of traditional technique of intangible cultural heritage in Chongqing City.Originated from Xiushan,the Dragon & Phoenix Wedding Candle is an essential marriage token among series of marriage custom in this area.Surrounded by dragons and phoenixes,and full of joyous atmosphere,the Candle is unique in Chinese making field with its alive looks and bright color.Indeed,the process of producing this Candle is combined with various traditional crafts,and the aesthetics research and ornamental values are therefore considerable.It can be regarded as a highly distinctive style in the traditional Chinese technique system,which exerts a noticeable value for studying the marriage custom of minority community,like the Miao and Tujia nationalities.The unique craftsmanship and plastic arts have deeply influenced the views of life,value,love and aesthetics of local and surrounding residents.By exploring the basic rule of related traditional technique self-protection and functional protection,the research summarizes the general rules and principles of both protections for local traditional technique under the current social ecology.Furtherly,some developmental approaches and paths are put forth,with a view to supporting the self and functional protections for traditional crafts theoretically.It is intended to provide reference for the self and functional protection of similar traditional crafts.Guided by the art anthropology and art theory,and targeted at Xiushan,the paper aims to have an in-depth survey and exploration into the techniques and folklore of Dragon & Phoenix Wedding Candle by means of anthropological field investigation.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts.In Part 1,introduces the origin and worship of Chinese candle and dragon & phoenix totems,and the special meanings of candle and both totems in traditional marriage ceremony are presented in the meantime.Part 2introduces Dragon & Phoenix Wedding Candle and its making process.Then the relation between Xiushan marriage folklore and dragon & phoenix candle is described and explained in the final part.On this basis,it is further reflected on if it is true that the ecosystem a series of intangible cultural heritages lived by faces various forms of negative effects.Therefore,maintaining a stable ecosystem development behind the heritage is the optimal way to preserve intangible cultural heritage.To this end,it actually needs to coordinate the relations between elements inside the system it belongs to,thus making series variables always keep a dynamic,overall and harmonious development. |
