Describing the linguistic competence and development process of L2 learners is an important subject in the L2 acquisition research. The study of the development of language proficiency of Chinese as a second language is still relatively scarce. And longitudinal study, which is a more persuasive method in acquisition research, because of consumption on time and energy, visible data at home and abroad is still limited. In the real communicative speaking, investigation of the learners' oral ability development research is less.Differing from study which focus on the variations of the output performance of learners of varying levels or on the oral performance of learners when they're under test, and based on long time follow-up tracing P,a Korean Chinese beginner, the paper used the CAF measurement tools and adopted thirteen indicators of complexity(C),accuracy(A)and fluency(F)to study and analyse the learner's Chinese oral ability development in 13 months when the learner communicated in Chinese with a native speaker language partner. The conclusions are as follows:First of all,the complexity, accuracy and fluency of P's oral Chinese showed remarkable progress at this stage, twelve of the thirteen measures showed growth, which were the lexical variety, lexical difficulty level, length of AS unit, length of correct AS unit, clauses per AS unit, accuracy rate of AS unit, accuracy rate of clause, speech rate, pause rate, change of times, replacement and reformulation rate, mean length of fluent run;only mean length of pause did not show growth.Secondly, the three dimensions(CAF)of P's spoken language were closely interrelated, and the overall correlations were manifested in the alternating phases of competition and promotion, which presented a trajectory ascending in curve, and finally led to the process of qualitative change of the learner's overall spoken ability in the long-term development.Thirdly, based on this study,we encourage second-language learners to find themselves or be arranged for a native language partner, which help to facilitate their language acquisition besides the class learning.
