Research On The Design Practice In The Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum

The theme museum specializes in collecting,protecting,and displaying exhibitions related to a certain particular theme relative to the comprehensive museum.The source of inspiration and basis of design in the museum are based on the particular theme.In order to achieve the best display effect,the characteristics of the particular features are supposed to be further explored,and the targeted design should be carried out combining with the local geographical and cultural characteristics.The Great Wall was built as a military defense project,but along with the development of history,social changes,it has completed its military defense mission,and now the original function has changed.The Great Wall has become a very important historical relics now.As the monument of Chinese history,a symbol of the great strength of the Chinese nation,the treasure house of literature and art,the Great Wall must be remembered by people.The Great Wall theme museum offers better collection and protection of the related artifacts,making the Great Wall and its relevant knowledge better known by the public.The Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum is located at the foot of "the first pass under heaven" of the Great Wall of China,it is one of the top three thematic museums about the Great Wall in China.This thesis makes an attempt to analyze the design elements and design methods of the theme museum in detail with features and functions as the breakthrough point using the on-the-spot investigation and theoretical analysis methods according to the research of the interior display design proposal in the Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum.Thus,references and basis for the display design of the future theme museums are provided.This thesis includes five chapters.In the first chapter,the background,purpose and methods of the research are briefly introduced.In the second chapter and the third chapter,the meaning,characteristics,requirements and functions,design elements and methods of the theme museum are discussed and analyzed.In the fourth chapter,the analysis of the design practice in the Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum is presented.In the fifth chapter,summary of the contents and design practice are made.
