Corrective feedback(CF)has been the hot topic in the field of second language acquisition for many years. Many researchers have devoted on exploring the effects of CF but there is no accordant conclusion. That is because language learning is a complex process in which individual difference in cognition plays an essential role.Consequently, the present study tries to take one cognitive factor?working memory capacity(WMC)into consideration to explore whether CF has different effects on different working memory capacities' students.Besides, further exploration will continue to investigate which type of CF has a better effect on high-capacity students and which one has a better effect on low-capacity students. The present study chose subjunctive mood as the target structure, applying quantitative research method.60 students of Hebei Zhengding High School were invited to take part in a five-week experiment.By analyzing the collected data through SPSS(13.0),the present study finds that the effects of CF is significantly different on high and low capacity students. As for high-capacity students, the effects of two kinds of CF(recast and metalinguistic feedback)do not exist statistically significance though metalinguistic feedback(MF)performs slightly better than recast. But as for low-capacity students, the effects of MF and RF is significantly different in statistic and MF performs much superior than recast. The present study is an extension of previous studies, proving that the effects of CF is significantly different on different capacities' students.Meanwhile,it provides suggestions for second language teachers that in order to provide the most effective CF for students, individual difference in WMC should be considered while using CF in their teaching.
