Corrective feedback in the field of second language writing teaching has always been a controversial topic, some researchers think that corrective feedback is effective, while some researchers take the opposite viewpoint.Besides, the effect of direct focus and unfocused written corrective feedback has been questioned by some researchers. Therefore, this study attempts to makea empirical study ofthe written correctivefeedback. The study is conducted in a senior high school in Gansu province. The subjects are from Grade One and the study is employed to investigatethe following research questions:1)Can written corrective feedback help students improve the accuracy of the subjunctive mood in English writing? If yes, which kind of written corrective feedback(direct focused and unfocused)is more effective in enhancing the students' accuracy ofthesubjunctive mood in English writing?2)Which kind of written corrective feedback(direct focused and unfocused)can produce long-term effects in improving students' accuracy ofthe subjunctivemood in English writing ?The experiment lasts 8 weeks in a senior high school which consists of pre-test,three treatments, immediate post-test and delayed post-test.The 60 students from the three parallel classes are selected as subjects who are regarded as direct focused written corrective feedback group(n=20)and direct unfocused written corrective feedback group(n=20)and control group(n=20).The teachers correct the errors of the subjunctive mood and give its right form in the focused group. The teachers correct all grammatical errors, including subjunctive mood in the unfocused group. The control group receives no written corrective feedback, but receives some comments on the content without any clues about the target structure. In the study, the three writing tests' score(pre-test,immediate post-test and delayed post-test)are counted and analyzed by SPSS22.0,including One-way ANOVA,Descriptive Statistics,Paired-samples Ttestand Independent Samples Test. The study indicates that the two kinds of written corrective feedback all have positive effects on the accuracy of the subjunctive mood in English writing while the control group has no significant improvement.Meanwhile, there is also significant difference between the focused group and the unfocused group, but the former can produce better long-term effects than the latterin improving students' accuracy ofthe subjunctivemood in English writing. This present study has tested the effectiveness of written corrective feedback, and the direct focused written corrective feedback is more effective in improving learners' accuracy of the target language. However, some weakness need to be improvedin the furtherstudy.
