Celeste Ng is an emerging writer who goods at Chinese American literature. The first novel Everything I Never Told You takes her six years and it is widely acclaimed since its publication, which shows a tragic story of a Chinese family with the miscegenation.Starting from her individual life experience, the writer describes the relationships of obedience and resistance between parents and children, and to show the personal bondage by ethnicity, marriage and kinship. At present, the research for the novel is focused on the following three aspects:the racial identity, the mother-daughter relationship and the character analysis, but there are few people analyzing the novel from family ethics. However, there are a lot of descriptions of couples, the parent-child relationship in the novel, containing the writer's special sense of family. This paper attempts to analyze the novel through the perspective of family ethics to clarify the sense of family. On that account, this paper will base on the specific reading on the novel, and apply the two theories--the Other Theory of Post-colonial and Feminism Theory of Beauvoir--to analyze the novel, and to explore the writer's family sense through the integrated analysis of representative family ethical relationship. The introduction mainly introduces the research conditions and the research value of the novel. The first chapter of the text will discuss the couple's struggle in the cultural dilemma and explore the reason under the background in that time. The second chapter discusses the marriage ethics relationship in the cross-ethnic family and analyzes the marital ambivalence caused by ethnic and social gender. The third chapter discusses the parent-child ethics relations, which will explore the conflict between individual consciousness of children and collective will of parents from the individual consciousness. It will focus on the emotion relationship between father and son, mother and daughter,as well as brother and sister.By analyzing the contradictions between the two generations,it reveals a question that the emotional conflicts ofparent-child relationship and the common problems in across-ethnic family are commonly existing:the absence of parents' images and the lack of communication in a family. And the fourth chapter is the reflection of family ethical dilemma, and the effort to resolve family conflicts through communicating with each other. Thus the writer's family sense is expressed--by narrating an ordinary person's experience, including family relationship, love and lose,it shows the responsibility of parents for family and children, and the appeal of returning to the real meaning of life.
