Celeste Ng,a female writer,is one of the most excellent Chinese American writers in the 21 th century. Her first novel,Everything I Never Told You,took six years to complete. After it was published in 2014,it has been widely praised by readers and attracted extensive attention of literary critics and researchers.Everything I Never Told You tells a tragic story of a cross-ethnic Chinese mixed race family after suffering from trauma.Starting from her own life experience,Celeste Ng reveal the bondage of ethnicity, marriage and kinship to individuals by describing the contradictory relationship between obedience and resistance between parents and children. At present, most of the commentators focus on the ethnic identity, mother daughter relationship, character image and trauma, and no one interprets it from the perspective of ethical narrative. The novel involves many descriptions of the relationship between husband and wife, parents and children, which contains the author's unique family concept. This paper attempts to make a detailed analysis of the novel from the perspective of ethical narration so as to clarify the family concept contained in the novel.Based on a careful reading of Everything I Never Told You,this paper uses narratology and Professor Nie's Literary Ethics to study the complex ethical Predicament faced by cross-ethnic families through the analysis of the relationship between family ethics in the novel. The first chapter describes the life and creation of Celeste Ng,expounds the research and comments of scholars at home and abroad, explains the research methods and significance, and paves the way for the paper. The second chapter discusses the ethical predicament of the cross-ethnic family, the ethical knot of the cross-ethnic family, and analyzes the changing process of Chinese American marriage from the perspective of society and history. From the perspective of individual consciousness, this paper explores the ethical dilemma of children and their confrontation with their parents' strong will, trying to explore the causes ofparent-child emotional conflict. The third chapter discusses the perspective and time of the ethical narrative of Everything I Never Told You,discusses the multi-line alternating narrative and the all-round perspective which undoubtedly makes the novel more valuable. The fourth chapter is a reflection on the ethical relationship of cross-ethnic family, which shows the writer's understanding of family responsibility. The reunion of a small family reveals the great love in human nature that Celeste Ng repose in their novels. Finally, the fifth chapter summarizes the research of this paper.Everything I Never Told You,a novel with superb narrative skills and rich themes,is a perfect combination of family ethics and daily narrative.
