During the Ming and Qing dynasties,there were frequent contacts between the man of letters.Tong Ren and Sequel to Tong Ren,which reflected the Mao and Yuan Mei's circle of friends.The compile of two works showed the social characteristics in different periods and had the meanings of the times.Through the description and comparison of the contents of the two works,we can find out the changes of the spiritual outlook and psychological state of the two periods.The compile of Tong Ren and Sequel to Tong Ren,which were a condensation of the two litterateurs' half life,and reflected the social style of the whole epoch.The presented variety activities of social intercourse in the two works,including the scholar's indulged in responsoial-poems,art-coleection,theatrical-entertainments,feasts and banquets,which was of great significance for us to study the social and cultural history of Ming and Qing dynasties.Taking two selected poems as evidence and combined with other works,which can be found that the change of the social mentality between the man of letters in the two dynasties.First,based on the concept of fame's attitude,the man of letters in early Qing dynasty stuck to the values of save the world,while people adhered to the name for themselves in middle Qing dynasty.Second,from the perspective of leisure life,the man of letters in middle Qing dynasty,who enjoyed their leisurely and comfortable life and lack of sad feelings for the world.Finally,focused on the standpoint of women,there had the change from a little doubt to universal acceptance,reflected that the loosening of gender consciousness.Through discussing and anglicizing these questions,we can better understand and grasp the social life of Ming and Qing dynasties.
