Running Script Methodicalness Evolution Research

According to the development of calligraphy history,this article divides the semi-cursive script into four periods:Wei-Jin Dynasty,Tang and the Five Dynasties,Song and Yuan Dynasties,Ming and Qing Dynasties.Based on ancient masterpieces or the outstanding script in art of composition,this article teases the rheological characteristics of semi-cursive from the angle of axis type,shape and spatial relationship.The Wei-Jin Dynasty was the beginning of the running script.The Wangs' handwritten letters(Wangxizhi and his son,Wangxianzhi)and the "Lanting Preface" were the representatives in this period,when the running rules were mainly influenced by the axis.It gradually changed in the five dynasties,then greatly developed in the Tang Dynasty,taking the axis as an example: there have been two clear paths--one is the practical way of making the central axis straight,such as Lu Jianzhi's “Wen Fu”;the other is the art-shaped form of the twists and turns of the central axis.such as Yan Zhenqing's manuscripts for memorizing his nephew,and “Liu Zhong Shi Tie”.In spatial segmentation,the representative of the five dynasties is Yang Ningshi and his masterpiece,“Leek Flower”,which has significance in the art history of running script.The Song and Yuan Dynasties are breakthrough period,because affected by "Shangyi" style,so many artists in that dynasty played their greatest artistic creation,especially MiFu and his "Coral" “Wu Jiang zhou Zhong Zuo”,which are the breakthrough point in axis and spatial segmentation.Ming and Qing Dynasties are the peak for running script.There were a variety of calligraphy styles,and vertical writing became the mainstream.Constitutions,the revolution in writing,had been paid more attention.Processing and calligraphy had been focused.In this period,the outstanding and characteristic calligraphers are Xu Wei,Dong Qichang,Wang Duo,and so on,whose creation have reached aesthetic perfection.They madethe creation of art in calligraphy most incisive,and also push it to a unmeasurable peak,then set an important paradigm for later generations.
