| In the study of Shakespeare,modern Marxism emphasizes on the historicist explanation of ‘Desire’.Among all,the American scholar Fredric Jameson focused on the historization of unconscious in his book the Political Unconscious: Narrative as a Socially Symbolic Act,which provides a new concept for studying the power of discourse in the context of Macbeth,the gender relations and the phenomenon of insane of Lady Macbeth.With the analysis of concepts like ‘power’ and ‘gender’,this dissertation is aim to review,explore and answer the questions around Lady Macbeth and the text of Macbeth.In this dissertation,‘insane’ is regarded as the vertical process of psychological development and the ‘desire’ is considered as the horizontal axis of interpretations.As one of the most special female figure of Shakespeare,Lady Macbeth plays a typical role for learning about the identity of female in the western world.Meanwhile,in the combination and game of power and desire,the essence for female as and to be ‘insane’ is lie on a historicist interpretation.Under the guidance of modern Marxism and the combination of the desire studying of psychoanalysis and modern feminism,this dissertation will explore further by using the methods of document analysis,text intensive reading and interdisciplinary research.The historicist concepts of Marxism Shakespeare study reproduced the truth of history during the analysis of texts and the study of images.Desire is not just an individual label of the identity and personality of female,but also the historicist reproduction of the social context.And the essence of individual desire is finally the historicist power. |
