Research On The Dances In Song Ci

As a connecting link between the preceding and the following,the Song Dynasty was an important transition time for the development of Chinese ancient dance.With the dancing climate in the light of Song's culture,It developed the dance form more than inherited it from Tang Dynasty.Because dances of Song Dynasty were seldom recorded in the documents and they were gradually transforming into Zaju,there were not specific studies on the forms with pure dances,and they were much less mentioned in the books by many researchers of dance history than the dance studies of Tang Dynasty.Quan Song Ci(a complete collection of Song Ci),compiled by Tang Guizhang,includes over 19990 works written by more than 1300 ci poets,of which over 600 works are related to dance.It was regarded as an epitome of the culture in the Song Dynasty,especially the dance culture.The works in Quan Song Ci are not only used for emotional expression,but reflect and record dance scenes.Thus,this book can be the best material and authentic historical document.This paper also takes it as the starting point for its study.With reading up Quan Song Ci,the author found out that the works written by Shi Hao have a direct relationship with dances.In his work,My Notes in Mount Mao,he directly describes Sword Dance,Zhezhi Dance,Picking Lotus Dance,Taiqing Dance,Flower Dance and Fisherman Dance.Although the dance patterns depicted in General History of Chinese Dance-Volume of Song Dynasty,Liao Dynasty,Western Xia Regime,Jin Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty are more than those six dances,these six dances,more like plays or notations of performances,can be the core for studying dances of Song Dynasty.From this,the paper compares other ci related to dances and,according to Dance Notation of Deshou Palace,it searches the pictures of murals,pottery figurines,stone carvings and jadewares that have been found about Song's dances,so as to make dance forms of Song Dynasty clear and specific,and finally to obtain the facticity of dances of Song Dynasty.
