With China's comprehensive national strength constantly improving,China is playing a more and more important role in the world and people choose to study Chinese keep increasing in recent years.More than 500 Confucius institutes are distributed around the world to spread Chinese language and culture and deepen mutual understanding and connection.Students from all over the world come to China to learn Chinese.The practice of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages is booming.At present,many universities in China have cooperated with various universities in the world and send students abroad for Chinese teaching to make more overseas students learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture.Shenyang University has cooperated with Japan's Hokkaido Bunkyo University for many years.Therefore,the author got a one-year internship overseas and conducted the study on the motivation of Bunkyo University students in learning Chinese.The author carries out an investigation on the influential factors of motivation of Chinese learning about students in Hokkaido Bunkyo University,based on Gardner's “fusion motivation” and “instrumental motivation” in social psychology motivation model,Noels' theory of “internal motivation” and “external motivation” and D?rnyei's three levels of learning motivation model theory.This thesis is divided into six parts.The first part briefly introduces the significance and purpose of this paper,research background and methods used in the study.The second part is a review of previous research on students' learning motivation.The third part is the research design of this survey,including the basic situation of the objects,the structure of the questionnaire and interview and methods of data processing.In the forth part,by the analysis of the data some findings are made,including the types of motivation,analysis of the relationship between individual factors and Chinese learning motivation.The fifth part is aimed at the teaching strategies of Japanese learners.The last part is to draw some conclusions and propose some research ideas for the future.The results of this study show that the individual factors for students in Bunkyo University are significantly correlated with learning motivation,including gender,age,Chinese level and major.These factors will influence students' motivation in Chinese learning.The main motivation of Bunkyo University's students is the instrumental motivation.Thus,the author puts forward the strategies in terms of curriculum setting,teaching resources and faculty to motivate Bunkyo University's students' motivation of learning Chinese which serves to contribute to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
