The Research Of Governance Of Xiangyang Under Yuan Dynasty From 1267 To 1273

The battle of Xiangyang before and after the 1270s has always been the major research of the history of Yuan Dynasty and Mongol Khanate,there were many work of the predecessor scholars in the past,most research were mainly about the military deployment,military system,geography and tactics,that is from the military view,there is not so much concern about the political situation and the people who got enrolled in the war on the side of Yuan Dynasty.Xiangyang locates in the center of Central China with superior geographic environment,it has always been the traffic hub between North and South China since ancient time and a military necessity city.After becoming the emperor,Kublai chose Xiangyang as the breaking point.After the battle of Xiangyang(1267-1273),Yuan Dynasty successfully seized it,and these things changed the political situation between Yuan Dynasty and Song Dynasty,thus began the conquering to South China,and Yuan Dynasty finally united the whole country and held the largest domain in Chinese history.In this thesis,the author researched Xiangyang based on the view of Mongol Khanate and Yuan Dyansty,meanwhile,the author also researched the history background of the battle of Xiangyang,the preparation of Yuan Dynasty before the battle,including why Kublai chosed Xiangyang as the breaking point,the establishment of Henan province for the purpose of military conquest,the policy of amnesty to Song Dynasty,and all sorts of army building.The author researched the backgrounds of the generals of Yuan Dynasty,and their experiences during the battle,based on this research,the author offered a better understanding of the battle of Xiangyang and the ruling of Yuan Dynasty in Xiangyang.This thesis researched the ruling of Yuan Dyansty in Xiangyang from the respects of politics,military,and technology and so on,depicted the strategy and measures that Yuan Dynasty took.Based on the research of predecessors,the author gets the conclusion by testifying and analyzing the policies and measures of Yuan Dynasty,most mainly about history trend,rulers,commanders and the strategies and all the other factors,these factors made Yuan Dynasty seized Xiangyang successfully.This thesis used the method of textual research,especially deducing and researching the time note,and analyzed the historical materials step by step,discovered this history by time,space,people,and all the other elements.The author gets the personal opinions and conclusions by accumulating the datas of the people related,narrating the related history by time,and finally used the method of induction to analyze the research of predecessors and disclose the logical connections among the history materials.
