Application Of The Harry The Hypno-potamus:Metaphorical Tales For The Treatment Of Children In The Children's Psychological Treatment

This study made use of non-specialized professional knowledge training and support and guidance in practice to help parents understand and apply the stories in the Harry the Hypno-potamus: Metaphorical Tales for the Treatment of Children to educate the children and aid them to solve their own behavioral problems.The study adopted Conners Children's Behavior Questionnaire-Parent Version and Chinese Parenting Style Evaluation Scale-Parent Version to investigate 274 top-class children in the kindergarten and analyzed the relationships between parenting styles and children's behavioral problems from different dimensions.Based on the investigation results,totally 24 children with behavioral problems were enlisted to take part in the experimental study.According to Harry the Hypno-potamus: Metaphorical Tales for the Treatment of Children,these 24 children were divided into 5 categories,i.e.: nail biting,fear of darkness,sleep disorder,leg pain and shyness.The subjects were grouped by reference with the design of small sample experiment,and inter-group controls and intra-group controls before and after test were set.The data were followed for 7 weeks and an analysis was made to training results,intervention effects and influencing factors.The investigation results indicated that in the parenting styles,the two dimensions,democratic solicitude and conductive guidance,are positively correlated with conduct problems and negatively with children's anxiety problems among children's behavioral problems.Parenting styles influenced the occurrence and problem intervention effect of children's behavioral problems.The experiment results indicated that the Harry the Hypno-potamus: Metaphorical Tales for the Treatment of Children have a healing effect on children's behavioral problems.Using this book to intervene in children's behavioral problems could relieve but might not definitely eliminate the symptoms and the intervention effect is persistent.The intervention effect of using Harry the Hypno-potamus: Metaphorical Tales for the Treatment of Children on children's behavioral problems by parents that received the training and follow-up guidance was better than that by parents who received no training.The training effect and intervention effect were influenced by the complexity of the problem.There was a slight delay in the presentation of intervention effects.
