Notes On The Creation Of "Dust To Dust" Series

Since the end of last century,with the collision and fusion of the world's art trends,the creative concept and aesthetic orientation of Chinese contemporary artists have undergone tremendous changes.The transformation of "contemporariness" of traditional brushwork painting has become the direction that many scholars and artists study and explore.New fine-line painting came into being in this situation.Compared with the traditional brushwork,on the one hand,the new fine-line painting incorporates the concept features of Western painting,gets rid of the traditional stylization of Chinese painting,and emphasizes the artist's self-pursuit spiritual experience.On the other hand,it preserves the unique material medium of Chinese painting,inherits the outstanding genes in traditional culture and makes it more sophisticated through in-depth study and bold innovation to traditional techniques,thus broadening the limitation of the performance of traditional techniques.New fine-line painters have gradually created a new visual style of photorealistic painting that reflects the contemporary evolution of Chinese traditional culture without losing its oriental appeal.New fine-line painting explores the possibility of traditional brushwork painting seeking self-breakthrough in the contemporary context,showing new vitality of the traditional Chinese brushwork painting with a long history.The first part of this paper expounds the impact of the background of new fine-line painting on the author's creation concept and the process of creating the series of"Dust to Dust".The second part analyzes the drawing process of the series of "Dust to Dust" from the aspects of composition,modeling,outline drawing and color setting combining the cognition of the new fine-line painting and my own creation practice.Finally,this paper briefly describes the confusion brought by this painting creation and my thinking on art.
