The Christian culture and Confucian culture are the two systems of ideologies and civilizations that are created in the respective classic times.These two systems are totally universal.It includes politics,economy,literature,art,ethic,laws and conventions or believes.In all of these branches,we can see,the ethic and morallity are the aspects,which are very close for our daily life,because human is a social animal firstly,we can never be apart from the communities and collectives for a moment,if so,if we want to live in the communities and collectives,there must be a rule that all the people observe,it must arrange the communication for all the people.If not,there is no society and man cannot create various colorful civilizations.This rule,in the strict sense,is the ethic and morallity as we often talk about.There are a lot of reasons for everything that exists.If we want to ask "why and how",the simplest method is to study and research the history for the things you desire.For the Christian and Confucian culture,both of them derive from the respective classic times and have more than 2000 years history,so we can never explain it totally clearly and perfectly only through a master dissertation,even if we contribute our whole life to this enterprise.But we deeply understand that the history is so complex and heavy,so we also understand that the history is rooted and it roots in its various original historical documents in the classic times,these documents have influenced the history of world civilization deeply and for a long time.They are called Analects and Bible.As we know,the historical documents carry the history,any historical research should root in the historical documents and they are the real foundation of history.Analects and Bible,they are literial and cultural phenomenons,also moral and religious,but in the final analysis,historical.For the Analects,as the mottos by Confucius,it should be the historical mottos and been recorded in the history.For Bible,the religious mottos play the most significant role,but it roots in the early history of Isreal-Nation.For the Christian and Confucian civilizations,Analects and Bible are the foundations of these two civilizations.They are the most significant historical dicuments for us researchers.The primary purpose of this thesis is to discuss the similarities and differences between Confucianism and Christianity in ethics thought.Analects of Confucius recorded the words and anecdotes of Confucius,the greatest ancestor of Confucianism.Since Bible is expatiatory and opaque,in this thesis,as a master's degree thesis,it is inappropriate method that the thesis uses to contrast.Jesus,as the founder of the Christianity,along with all his thoughts mainly reflected in the New Testament,maintains the essential thoughts of The New Testament in the Four Gospels.Therefore,this thesis accomplishes a short-cut analysis between The Analects of Confucius and The Gospels as a framework research method.Although the many sources of The Gospels,such as the year of book,the author and so on,are controversial and disputable,through the self-certification in The New Treatment and the evidences of relevant historical materials,it is still widely viewed as historic,or at least highly reliable historical documents.The Gospels includes the thoughts,speeches and stories of Jesus,as well as the standard point of ethic.In a variety of ethics,,Ren'(humanity and benevolence)of the Confucian doctrine and 'love' of Christianity maintain similarities and differences.By contrast the similarities and differences of these two concepts.This thesis will focus on the fundamental heterogeneity and the resulting position of individual in hierarchy of different society.In addition the importance of the nature of the good or evil and reality or afterlife,and the relation between the nationality and other races,the domestic and the external world,will also be discussed in this thesis.In the aspects of the structure,this dissertation has four chapters,the first chapter is about the contents of Analects and Gospels and we confirmed the nature of historical documents for them.The rest of them are about the views of kindheartedness,justice,equality and so on.We have talked about love and "ren",the different kinds of loves and equal loves,justice and interests,also the relations of parents and children,monarchs and commen people,husbands and wives.Nationalism and cosmopolitanism are also in this dissertation as a political ethics.Through the analysis above,the expectation is to clarify the similarities and differences between Confucius and Jesus ethical morality by contrast The Analects of Confucius and The Gospels,and move one more step to explore the similarities and differences between Christianity and Confucianism ethics,and even distinguish the whole similarities and differences between Chinese and western ethics as imperfect stage to simply explain the question that how Europe is Europe and China is China,the query obsess human for the hundreds years,from the religion perspective with my infinitesimal efforts.
