The Development Of Female Subjectivity

Hellenistic period in this text refers to the 300 years ancient Greek time between the Alexander the Great's establishment of Macedonian dynasty and disappear of the last Hellenistic kingdom-the Ptolemaic dynasty in 30 BC.During the Hellenization period,the spirit of classical Greek culture and the integration of oriental civilization formed a unique cultural background and social system.In this period,women showed positive influence in culture,family,and society and so on.This paper tries to probe into the influence of female subjectivity on women status in the Hellenistic world.The first part of the paper adopts the cultural perspective and combines the characteristics of the times to study women status from the classical philosophical culture and the Hellenistic multicultural aspects.Try to prove that female autonomous learning and emancipation in the Classical Greek philosophy and the cultural tolerance in the Hellenistic world exert importance on Hellenistic women status.The second part adopts the family perspective and talks about Hellenistic women's roles,rights and obligations in the family,marriage to probe in the female automatic participation effect in female status.The third part adopts the society perspective and talks about women influence on policy and religion in the Hellenistic age.The prominent queen monarchies,thought a production of requirement of the time,showed women's breakthrough in social role.Besides,queen governing largely activated women's enthusiasm in the ordinary society.And women's participation in religious activity also represented women's charms in the society.In the concluding part,the author gives a summarized evaluation of Hellenistic women status in the culture,family and society,and makes a simple analysis about the influences of female subjectivity has had in Hellenistic women status.
