As a crystallization of music aesthetics experience,music criticism is usually retained in written form.Music criticism seems to be unrelated with music aesthetics,but in reality,in the process of actual production of music criticism,people usually neglect that music criticism has its aesthetic starting point and basic position.The embryonic period in the history of Chinese music aesthetics is during the pre-Qin period,which is the source of music aesthetics development in ancient China.After reading a large number of literatures,the writer discovers that the literature left by the music criticism in the pre-Qin period is numerous.Among them,the music criticism of Confucian,Mohist,Taoism,and Legalism are the most typical,but few people explore the aesthetic basis behind them.The first chapter of the paper mainly lists the examples of music criticisms of the Confucian,Mohist,Taoism,and Legalism in the pre-Qin period as well as the main representatives of the four schools has been illustrated,which is the basis of the whole paper.The second chapter mainly describes the cognitive features of Confucian,Mohist,Taoism,and Legalism' music criticism,and makes a comparative analysis on the music criticism views with distinctly different understandings.The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the aesthetic basis of the Confucian,Mohist,Taoism,and Legalism's music criticism,also analyzes and summarizes the aesthetic views presented by the music criticism.At the same time,the ancient viewpoints of Confucianism,Mohism,Taoism and Legalism in the pre-Qin period are summarized and their own understanding is put forward.This paper treats aesthetic issues from the perspective of development history of music criticism.It mainly focuses on the existence of music criticism in the pre-Qin period and takes the Confucian,Mohist,Taoism,and Legalism as main analysis objects to enumerate examples of music criticism,and consider the characteristics of music criticism,analyze the aesthetic basis behind its music criticism.
