Interpretation plays a crucial role in cross cultural communication and has successively made extraordinary contributions to enhance mutual understanding between different cultural background communities.This is an interpretation practice report based on the human history documentary,the New Silk Road,which is promoted by China Network Television.This documentary introduces the history,culture,economy and religion of the Silk Road.It has inherent significance in enhancing exchanges,communicating,attracting tourists and promoting foreign investments.In this report,the author selects two extremely representative sets which not only have historical meanings but also have practical values to do the interpretation practice under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory and Text Typology Theory.And this interpreting practice culminates with a subsequent report.In the report,the author makes a detailed exploration of the language feature of the text and processing methods of the culture-loaded expressions and rhetorical devices in the text.And the author seeks to adopt various practical skills and strategies for each of the problems respectively.There are mainly four parts in this interpretation report.The first part is the task description,which includes topic sources,description of the text and target audiences.The second part is the description of the interpretation process.The author expatiates the preparation before interpreting and the interpreting process in this part.The case study is shown in the third part of this report,which consists of the analysis of the interpretation methods of culture-loaded expressions and rhetorical devices.In the final part of this report,the author provides a conclusion on this task,and summarizes the importance of cultural differences,as well as the language capability for an interpreter.
