Interpreting is not only a simple bilingual process of transferring meaning but also a kind of communicative activity. In terms of Relevance Theory, interpreting is a communicative activity on one the hand, and on the other hand it is a kind of stimulus that could inform some information to the listener. This simulated interpreting report, based on Relevance Theory, selects four episodes of Ethnic Odyssey in Xinjiang from Travelogue, and aims to explore how to use Relevance Theory to guide interpretation work. The report is divided into four parts, including task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion.Part one is a brief introduction of the topic source and significance of the task.Part two,the author depicts preparations before interpretation, such as theoretical framework, background knowledge, theme knowledge etc.Part three, from the perspective of Relevance Theory, the author analyzes probable factors that influence the interpreter to obtain ostensive-inferential clues and to achieve optimal relevance in the end.And the author puts forward existing problems in interpreting based on assessment of the whole interpreting task and makes further discussion, endeavoring to come up with approaches to advance the efficiency of interpreting. And the last part is the conclusion of the entire interpreting practice.
