A Brief Research On The Performance Of Characters In The Documentary

Among many forms of film and television arts,the documentary is unique.It uses the lens to truly record the people and society.The truth is the core of the documentary and is the key to the documentary.The documentary is the interweaving of realism and documentary doctrine.Since its inception,it has undergone several innovations on theories,and the form content pursued has undergone great changes.At present,the mass media are more diversified,and many documentaries produced by the new media platform are well received and is leading another round of innovation.The development of the documentary film has not only been a truth-seeking and straightly objective record for the time being.It is also an art form in which truth and pluralism coexist,thought and art blend,and objectively and subjectively echo.The shaping of the characters’ image is extremely important in all categories of film and television arts.By expressing people’s various aspects to express life in all its aspects is the expression of the“origin of life and higher than life”of film and television arts.For the documentary,there is a special method in which people use lens to truly record the various portraits of different people who exist in reality.In fact,character images exist not only in documentaries for people,but also in most of the documentary types.The popular food documentary named A Bite of China is an excellent example.It shows people ’s admiration for a group of people by recording their special food.There are lots of portraits of people from different places in this documentary,while recording the Chinese food traditions,it has also shaped Chinese portraits which respect cultural traditions,creativity,and unique perception of life.Chinese cuisine is unique and its tradition is profound.It explores the relationship between people and food.This documentary uses Chinese food to read Chinese temperament and understand Chinese people.It is precisely the spirit of the gourmet documentary A Bite of China.There are still many deficiencies in the theoretical study of the character representation of documentary films,and there are few related documents.The author believes that there are three main theoretical points and important questions to be clarified,and attempts are made to explain in the research of this article.The first is that the boundaries between the so-called "objective" and "subjective" records are unclear.This affects the theoretical innovations of the technique of expression for characters in the documentaries.The second is the combination of the typographic narrative and the current mainstream story narrative style has some problems which make the overall performance of the documentary is insipid,and the same applies to the shaping of the characters.The third is how different kinds of audiovisual language methods affect the performance of the characters.It is also an serious issue.The relevant research lacks in-depth careful analysis and case analysis.Based on the above points,this article uses literature research method,case study method,and practical research method to study the expression techniques and related theories of documentary image formation.From the perspective of different theories and cases,we conduct in-depth performance techniques.The content of the article is divided into the following four chapters.The first chapter describes the research background and significance of this article,and proposes practical means such as research purpose,content,and methods.The second chapter clarifies the development and changes of the character-shaping performance in the history of documentary films both at home and abroad,and clarifies the different expression styles and pursuits of character images in each stage of documentary film development.The third chapter discusses the theoretical basis of the documentary image creation,which mainly includes the "storytelling" narrative strategy advocated by the current documentary creation,the "storytelling" of the character image performance,and the audience’s psychological demand for the documentary "story" performance;The essence of the objective and real record and the desire to compose the subjective emotions are interwoven,and how the character’s image should be balanced in the two.The author believes that this is the theoretical core for exploring the expression techniques of the documentary image.The fourth chapter discusses the practical expression techniques of documentary characters.It is based on the theoretical interpretation of the first two chapters.From the perspective of actual creation,the typical choices of the photographed person are combined with their living environmentand details in the audiovisual language.Specific means such as shots,commentary,etc.,discusses the concrete expression techniques and expressions of the characters in practice.This chapter uses the classic case analysis form to prove the feasibility of the research content,and summarizes the universally applicable principles and techniques in conjunction with the personally created work “The Elapsed Qingpingyue(a kind of poem names)”,and discusses how the performance of the character image can be found in the framework of the story narrative.The content of this chapter is based on the unity of theory and practice.The ultimate goal is to try to figure out how to create a documentary and create a realistic and thought-provoking character image based on sound theoretical guidance.The fifth chapter summarizes the research results of this paper,and points out the shortcomings,and puts forward the vision.The research method combining verification theory and practice is applicable to the documentary film and television category,or to the study of the performance techniques of the characters in the film,and then looks forward to the research perspective of the future documentary character image research.
