As an important form of education in ancient China,academy plays an important role in talent cultivation,disseminate ideas and academic research.In the Ming and Qing dynasties,Shandong canal area academies developed rapidly.On the one hand,favorable location advantages and strong support from local officials and gentry were important factors for the rapid development of the academy.On the other hand,the academy also played an active role in promoting the development of local education,the cultivation of talents and the stability of regional society and cultural communication.With the help of the Ming and Qing dynasties canal area in Shandong academy as carries,the paper explores the basic situation of Shandong academy in the Grand Canal area in the Ming and Qing dynasties and its interaction with the social development in the area of the Grand Canal in Shandong by means of the research of academy numbers,diversity,funds,management,teaching and flourish reasons,etc.First of all,this article has analyzed the spatial and temporal differences in the development of academies in the area of the Grand Canal in Shandong by virtue of the research of the number of academies in this area in detail.The author deems that the number of academy has been developing rapidly from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty,and the geographical distribution of academies has showed the south is better than the north at the same time.Secondly,the author believes that the raising and using of funds plays an important role in the development of Shandong canal area academies,the organization management and teaching management has a relatively perfect system and the directors of the college act as both administrators and supervisors through the analysis of the reasons and characteristics of the Grand Canal area in the Ming and Qing dynasties.Finally,this paper analyzes the reasons for the prosperity of the academies in the Shandong canal area in Ming and Qing Dynasties,the connection with the local society and the influence of the interaction between the gentry group and the academy through the analysis of specific cases.Combining with the development of the canal areas in Shandong academy in the Ming and Qing dynasties,the paper makes up for the shortage of academy research in this region and tries to provide some reference for modern college education and student training.
