The Bodhisattva Modeling Characteristics In Dunhuang 103 Cave And The Creation Of "Xiangxin" Revelation

Dunhuang in Gansu Province is one of the places where people first came into contact with Buddhism in Chinese history,and it is the first place where Buddhism leaved tracks in China.Mo Kao Grotto at Dunhuang is the key link in the research of introduction of Buddhism to China as well as the cultural interaction between China and the rest of the world.The study on the modeling characteristics of bodhisattva among the Buddha figures in the south wall of number 103 of the Mo Kao Grotto in Tang Dynasty can be a study of the aesthetic characteristics of fine arts and the modeling characteristics of bodhisattva in the Tang Dynasty.The frescoes of Mo Kao Grotto 103 recorded social culture and development of art and aesthetic way in Tang Dynasty,which played an incomparable role in showing people's spiritual life and inner world.This paper focuses on the modeling characteristics of bodhisattva in the south wall of Mo Kao grotto 103 and comes to the conclusion of intangible beauty of bodhisattva modeling,compared with cave bodhisattva modeling in Northern Liang,Northern Wei,Northern Zhou,Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty.It can be obtained the characteristics of “full of composition”,“simpleness of lines”,“the stability of color”.Because the mural has changed color and fall off phenomenon in the long period of time,finally in color whole presents quietly elegant mottled tone.based on the analysis of their composition,line and color.In the creation process for graduation,the author studied and recreated the paint based on composition,line and color of bodhisattva modeling of the Mo Kao grotto to show the intangible beauty.The author also blend people's inner demand and expectations for better life in contemporary society through concrete expression of the materials and technique of the picture to make the work full of vitality and contemporary significance.
