To Overcome The Nihilism By Nietzsche's Dionysus Spirit

As one of the iconic and greatest philosophers in the history of philosophy,Nietzsche is regarded as the pioneer of the contemporary western philosophy.Accompanied by his unique style of writing,his masterpieces often poses a strong linguistic and artistic charisma.His life journey was full of twists and turns,but his linguistic talent still laid the foundation for his future enlightenment.It was because of the dual challenge from fate and health issue that Nietzsche started to ponder the meaning of life since young.In his early stage,influenced by the premature death of his father,Nietzsche questioned Christianity and spent his life to fight against Christian moral values.Nietzsche loves life and the earth;his philosophy can be classified as the understanding of life and appreciation of art,with less obscure logics but full of fighting spirit.He was fearless to shout out "God is dead",to create the "Superman" image,and to name himself after the apprentice of Dionysus.Nietzsche's philosophy mainly targets at overcoming the European nihilism,with the focal concern and core ideas around Dionysus.Based on this background,the present paper takes the spirit of Dionysian as a starting point to unfold on the analysis of Nietzsche's criticism and overcoming of nihilism.The whole article is divided into the following sections.In the first part,I shall clarify the meaning of Nihilism in Nietzsche's philosophy,mainly divided into two aspects: positive nihilism and negative nihilism.In the second part,I shall discuss Nietzsche's criticism towards nihilism,mainly seen in three aspects: criticism of Socratic scientific optimism,criticism of Platonic philosophical world and Christian moral system,indication of that all three aspects are in contrast with Dionysian spirit.In the third part,I shall discuss the path that Nietzsche took to overcome nihilism,with the spirit of Dionysus at its core,including the concept of "Dionysian","the will to power" and "Superman",arguing that though been represented differently in theory,the essence of these is the embodiment of the Dionysian spirit.In the fourth part,I shall explore the practical significance of Dionysian spirit and overcoming of nihilism,calling for people to affirm their lives,look upon their sufferings,and create valuable meanings for the world and life.A final conclusion is that Nietzsche's Dionysian spirit is inextricably linked to the nihilistic thinking.We should establish new values,love life and theearth,and create better meanings for life.
