A Study Of Zhao Benfu's Novels From The Perspective Of Regional Culture

Since its reform and opening-up,China has sustained a rapid economic development that has been widely impacted by various factors of globalization and postmodernism.In this context,literary creation began to pay more attention to cultural tradition.This cultural awareness has already demonstrated its importance in the writings of "Chinese story",meanwhile it brings a new opportunity for the literature creation of regional culture.The excavation of regional culture not only embodies the writer's concern and recognition on the regional cultural tradition,but also reflects the writer's high concern and deep thinking on the national survival and the destiny of the whole nation.At the same time,the cultural diversity and the breaking of the binary opposition pattern advocated by postmodernism,have provided the impetus to the regional cultural writing.This has become an important means of expressing regional cultural individuality and taking initiatives to write regional culture.Zhao Benfu's novels show the unique value of regional culture writing and enrich the whole landscape of contemporary literature,through his perspectives on local weddings,food culture,architecture and space,dialect slang and cultural psychological characteristics.The paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the relationship between regional culture and literature formation,and probes into how the regional culture has influenced Zhao Benfu's novel creation.In the background of globalization and cultural convergence,the cultural tradition preservation has become an urgent demand,while the pursuit of the regional culture has become an important breakthrough to this demand.In both Chinese ancient literature and contemporary Chinese literature,the writing of regional culture has always shown a unique literary feature.Zhao Benfu inherits this idea and embodies the obvious regional characteristics in his novels.The second chapter discusses the regional features of Zhao Benfu's novels:weddings writing,food culture writing,architecture and space writing,dialect slang writing,and cultural psychological characteristics writing.Zhao Benfu's writing of regional culture is not only his way of expressing nostalgia to his hometown,but also his distinctive style of constructing novels.This enables us to explore the author's theory of regional culture writing in the novel with a new angle.The third chapter discusses the value and significance of regional culture writing in Zhao Benfu's novels.First,Zhao Benfu's attachment to the regional culture writing originated from rural life and was triggered by his reflection on modernity;secondly,Zhao Benfu's writing of regional culture enriches the literary form of Jiangsu literature,and rectifies the homogeneity of the Chinese literary ecology;last but not the least,Zhao Benfu's novels uphold special anthropological significance for the writing of regional culture.
