Metaphorical Study Of Women And Nature From The Perspective Of Ecofeminist Criticism

Eco-feminism,born in the 1970 s,is a combination of environmental movement and feminist movement.In the context of ecological crisis and environmental deterioration,it began to consider the political,economic,historical,and cultural roots of oppression of women from an ecological perspective.Its purpose is to achieve women's liberation.The metaphor of women and nature is a tool for ecological feminists to interpret their ideas and achieve their goals.The metaphors of the relationship between women and nature,which are common in ecological feminist thoughts,include the feminized nature and the naturalized women.The use of ecological feminists' metaphor for women and nature not only benefits the formation of different schools of eco-feminism and branch theories,but also helps to promote the development of ecological literary criticism theories.It highlights the similarities between "nature" and "female" and constructs a richer metaphorical meaning.At the same time,the metaphors of women and nature have also generated some problems.First of all,as far as “female”and "natural" are concerned,the special part between the two is hidden,such as obscuring the multi-dimensionality and natural diversity of women,and also eradicating the differences between women and women as well as women and men.Second,when ecological feminists used the metaphorical relationship between women and nature,they opposed the dualistic opposition and constructed a new “ego-other” oppositional relationship,dividing mankind again into men and women.This practice of treating men as the opposite of women homogenizes men and women.While seeking to break the previous dual center(male centeredness and anthropocentrism),it also constructed a new center—the center of eco-feminism,which made women an instrument for anti-oppression—a metaphor for women and nature.-Evidence of support for the new binary opposition has emerged on the side.To solve these problems,eco-feminist literary criticism needs to start from three aspects in order to break the current predicament and achieve innovative development.First of all,to draw on the essence of existing ecological feminist thinking,construct a critical eco-feminism theory,and use a critical,comprehensive,and reflective perspective to understand the potential problems of eco-feminism.It is necessary to oppose the radical approach of sacrificing the ideal personalityof women and men's ideal personality as the ideal personality of both sexes in pursuit of men's right to speak(by dominating the dominant male domination mode after thoroughly abandoning their feminine characteristics);We must oppose “ecosystem angels”—indiscriminately assigning women's virtues to all women,and empowering women's rights over men's power.We must realize equality and harmony between the sexes on the basis of paying attention to gender differences.We must adhere to the principle of pluralistic eco-feminism and recognize the importance of diversification of the “other”.At the same time,we must adhere to the idea of??ecological holism,achieve women's liberation and gender equality,and enable humans to live in harmony with nature.Ecological holistic thinking means the cultivation of “self-ecological awareness”,the creation of “ecological identity” and the construction of more “ecological metaphors”.
