The Research Of Competition Between U.S. And Germany In South America In 1930s?1940s

In 1930s-1940s,in order to grasp the initiative of the war,U.S.and Germany launched a series of fierce diplomatic competitions in political,economic,military and cultural fields.In China,researches about South America international relations during second world war started relatively late,and the results of those researches are also scattered.This theme is still a relative weak link in the research.While researches referred to multilateral relations between U.S and South America and Germany during wartime are rare.By analyzing and comparing the process and the result that U.S.and Germany contended in South America,especially in Brazil and Argentina,can identity advantages and disadvantages in both of their foreign policies in South America.This kind of research not only helps us understand well on when faced changing international situation and external pressure South America countries need which national interest and will make which compromise,but also play a certain reference function for developing our future South America foreign policies and strategy.This paper mainly adopts literature research and comparative analysis method.These diplomatic competitions happened in South America,especially in Brazil and Argentina.Taking the development process of world war ? as time clues,the competition between U.S.and Germany can be divided into three stages:firstly,in 1930s the competition was emerged.Secondly,the competition becoming intense when world war ? broke out.Thirdly,in the end of the war,Germany became weakness in the competition.In the political and cultural fields of the competition,U.S.superior to Germany obviously.However,In the economic and military fields of the competition,U.S.and Germany are equally effective.Between the two Great Powers,South America countries,Brazil and Argentina in particular,also take full use of Strategic advantages,to walk and talk to guests circuitously between U.S.and Germany,and strived various favorable conditions for modernization.
