The Discuss Of Yan Fu's Political Liberalism

The purpose of this thesis aims to liberalism as an entry point, systematic review and clarification about Yan Fu's political thought.Modern China suffering so much adversities, how to save the nation has become the demands of respond the Western military invasion since Opium War, Yan Fu's political thinking of liberalism emerged in this social context. His thought can be described as blending Chinese and Western:he use Locke, Monttesquieu, Rousseau, John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith and other Western classical liberal thinkers' thought with Confucianism and Taoism's concept of freedom in the mix, forming a unique Chinese characteristics liberal ideology. The content includes:discuss the boundary of national liberal and individual freedom. In order to maintain individual freedom, Yan Fu suggested to establish a legal system of freedom and equality, but the national legislation under Chinese feudal autocratic system can not guarantee the impartiality of the judiciary, so he request to change political system of China, establish the British constitutional monarchy, parallel principle of separation of power and the system of local autonomy, ensure the personal political freedom. Yan Fu's liberalism political thought cannot be put into practice in modern China, the historical experience and lessions, for China's socialist modernization construction has played a theoretical significance, also provides beneficial enlightenment for the construction of democratic politics.
