The theory of the division of knowledge is the cornerstone of Hayek's liberalism theory, and this argumentation is related to the certain time background and theoretical origin.Through the investigation of the knowledge in the field of social economy,Hayek proposed that knowledge which is decentralized,space-time and subjective, exists in the form of division,.The division of knowledge determined the individual freedom.Hayek believes that the infinite dispersion of social knowledge, the relative limit of individual knowledge and the lack of human rational ability, these factors together determine the "inevitable ignorance" of humankind,And the"inevitable ignorance" is the basis of individual freedom. In order to maintain freedom and free from arbitrary coercion, the individual must freely quire relevant knowledge and independently make decision according to their own knowledge. The development process of knowledge determines liberalism.Hayek believes that the best way of knowledge acquisition, that is,the free teaching determines intellectual freedom. And the best means for knowledge dissemination, that is,the market mechanism of free competition decides guarantees the economic freedom.Lastly the best method of knowledge expansion, that is,the spontaneous social order promotes cultural liberty. The theory of the division of knowledge is the basis of Hayek's liberalism theory. He has made a new demonstration from the perspective of knowledge division, and laid a new epistemological foundation for liberalism.
