Under the policy of reform and opening-up in last more than forty years,the social economy in China has realized the great-leap-forward development,which consequently has brought China into the era of "mass consumption".Moreover,great changes have been taking place in the consumption structure of urban and rural residents,the pattern of residents' consumption is undergoing a migration away from the traditional model of material products consumption,towards the dual mode of material products consumption and culture consumption.Culture consumption is becoming an important driving force to guide the market structure adjustment,promote social and economic development and improve the quality of national life.Besides,the Chinese government has proposed that the culture consumption should be as new areas of growth for national economy and social development in the future.The growing population of the middle class,are not only the key groups to consume social material goods,at the same time,are also the main force of cultural consumption groups.Due to the middle class' s characteristics of guiding consumption fashion and setting consumption trends and their preference and capacity in culture consumption,the middle class has become a crucial force to develop China's cultural consumption and promote the strategy for higher national life quality.Based on consumption sociology,social psychology and other relevant theories,from the perspectives of the urban middle class culture consumption behavior,their motives and influencing factors and through the theory summary,historical review and in-depth investigation and analysis,the paper describes the present situation and characteristics of culture consumption by the urban middle class,reveals the main factors that could affect the choice and preference of culture consumption by the urban middle class and analyzes the cultural and social significance behind the culture consumption behavior and motivation of the middle class,furthermore,on this basis,this paper also puts forward some policy suggestions to enhance the cultural consumption growth and promote the development of cultural industry.
