| The level of middle school basketball league indicates the level of Chinese basketball in the future. It's very important to speed up reforms of the middle school basketball training and competition system, strengthen the cultivation of reserve talents of basketball. Geographically, Hubei and Hunan Province are close. They have comparable population and economic development level, and they have no occupation basketball club. Both of them are an important source of high level basketball teams of colleges and universities in these two provinces, which have built high level sports reserve talent base in several middle schools. It's profound and practical significance of researching the present situation and development of middle school students' basketball in Hubei and Hunan Province to promote the construction high level basketball teams.Present situation of the 2013 middle school basketball competition teams in Hubei and Hunan has been investigated by some research methods such as literature and data, questionnaire survey, interview and comparative analysis. The survey includes teams' situation, age of athlete, gender, level, training, evaluation of coaches, the relation of entrance and basketball competition, etc. The advantages and characteristics of the middle school basketball movement are analyzed. Based on the research, the restrictive factors affecting the development of middle school students of basketball in Hunan and Hubei have been found.
