English reading comprehension plays an important role in the teaching of senior high school English course. However, teachers always ignore students' individual differences in learning reading. It is required by new curriculum that teaching should meet the needs of all the students, and teachers should value the individual differences of students.Allowing for this, the correlation between learning of English reading and the students' individual differences should also be taken into consideration.Perceptual learning style influences students' learning behavior.Knowing the perceptual learning style of different students can help teachers predict students' frequently-used ways to learn English reading. And based on this, teachers can better help students of different perceptual learning style upgrade their English reading achievements. This study is based on the perceptual learning style theory, and it is carried out among184 senior high school students in Fujian zhangzhou high school.184 students' perceptual learning style questionnaires are collected.Besides, the three reading achievements are also collected in different periods and they are total achievement,part1(finding one correct answer from four choices)achievement and part 2(finding five sentences from seven-sentence options and filling them in the five blanks in a passage)achievement. The research questions have been put forward: 1.What is the general feature of perceptual learning style of students? 2.What is the correlation between the perceptual learning style and respective achievements of the three parts mentioned above? 3.What's the prediction of the former to the latter respectively? In order to study these research questions, spss 21.0statistical software is used to analyze the data that has been collected.Findings are that: 1.The general feature of perceptual learning style is: The majority of the students prefer auditory perceptual learning style, followed by visual, tactile, group, kinesthetic and individual perceptual learning style.Besides,In the process of learning reading comprehension, more than eighty percent of the students have at least one major perceptual learning style, while nearly twenty percent of the students have no major perceptual learningstyle.2.The correlation between perceptual learning style and total reading achievement is significant, but the correlation only exists in auditory, group and individual perceptual learning style.Auditory and individual perceptual learning styles have positive prediction to the total reading achievement, while group perceptual learning styles have the opposite prediction.3.The obvious correlation is found between auditory, group, individual learning style and the part 1 reading achievement.Auditory learning style has positive prediction to the part 1 reading achievement, while group perceptual learning style has the opposite prediction.4.There are correlation between auditory, individual learning style and the part 2reading achievement. And both of them have positive prediction to the part 2 reading achievement.Based on the above result of analysis, some cause analyses are put forward and the advice is also suggested. This study aims to examine the correlation between the perceptual learning style of students and their reading achievement to provide some guidance for the teaching of English reading. For example, teachers can present the key and difficult points with different kinds of teaching methods to give consideration to different perceptual learning style of students, and besides, teachers can also cultivate students' auditory and individual perceptual learning style, avoiding organize too many group activities.
