Fast-break tactic, with the characteristics of quick and efficient, has always been one of the most important offensive tactics used by each team. With the improving of offence and defense system of basket ball, Fast-break's methods and ideas are also developing day by day. Especially in the methods of fast-break, there has been more and more tactics during the forward process, such as screen, induction and raid, which makes fast-break tactic carry new connotation. The thesis takes the fast-break tactics in the quarter-final of 2014 FIB A Basketball World Cup as examples, and makes a deep analysis through scientific research methods, like the methods of documentary, expert interview, questionnaire survey, observation, mathematical statistics, logical analysis, and case studies. Combining with the research and understanding of basketball tactics for years, the thesis analyses modern basketball fast-break tactic from the aspects of the overall trend of the development of basketball and the concept of basketball offensive tactics. Meanwhile the thesis proposes some methods and thoughts about basketball fast-break tactic nowadays, trying to contribute to the further development of basketball fast-break tactic in our country. The conclusions of the thesis are as following:1. In the start and support phase of fast break tactic during this game, the fast break usually began with scrambling for the ball or defense of the board, while the support phase of fast break was mainly maneuvering support. The start of fast break strived for number of people and location advantages and enhanced the suddenness of fast break. Each phase of fast break's start and support should be simple and quick. During fast break, it emphasized striking the match in the counter-attack to be unprepared. The advantage of number of people has no longer been the main premise of fast break.2. In the advancing process of fast break, dribbling and passing are two main methods. With tactics like screen, give-and-go, score involved, the tactical change suddenness improved a lot. Fast break tactic is flexible. During the fast break, the follow up players built perimeter threats, at the same time, effectively limited the defenders to help with defending the inside attackers.3. At the end of fast break tactics, breaking through and 2 points layup was the main way to score. The hit ratio of 3 points fast attack is low and its effect is similar to 2 points. When there was no advantage of number of people in fast break tactic,3 points fast break tactics became leading score method. At the end of fast break period, the hit ratio was similar no matter there was defender or not. This is mainly due to strong personal ability in the process of fast break tactics.4. During this game, fast break tactics progress integrated with a variety of ways to coordinate, like screen, give-and-go and break through tactics. In the actual process of the tactical application, it highlighted the fast break tactics' "strong" and "weak" layout, reflected "true" and "false" tactical transformation, and "primary" and "secondary " tactical structure. However, the main tactics form of fast break still was fast break attack directly "without cooperate". Players' personal fast break ability is the guarantee of fast break points.
