As one of the four basic skills in English, writing plays an important role in senior high school English teaching, for it is not only a teaching goal and device of English teaching, but also an essential criterion to judge the teaching quality. However, as the weakest link in English teaching and learning, writing is still the main problem for teachers and students. Recitation is a good way to acquire sufficient language input with the merit of time and energy consuming, while it has the defect of lacking teacher intervention; Process-genre approach is a combination of the advantages of product approach, genre approach and process approach, while it lacks sufficient language input and enough inner language resources for students. In this experiment, the reciting and the process-genre approach will be used in English writing teaching class, the study aims to test the effectiveness and feasibility of process-genre approach and recitation in high school English writing class. Participants in this experiment are Grade one students from a senior high school in Fu Gou County, Henan province. The two chosen classes are Class 9 and Class 10. Class 9 as the control class instructed by the traditional product mode. The other Class10 is as the experimental group where the process-genre approach and recitation are conducted. The study attempts to solve the following two hypotheses:1. Could the process-genre approach and recitation improve students'writing skills and scores more effectively than product approach?2. Could the process-genre approach and recitation arouse students'positive emotional factors and confidence towards English writing? In order to verify whether the process-genre approach is more effective than product approach in English writing teaching, besides the survey and the interview, the contrastive method is adopted in the research, and after the experiment, all the statistics are processed with the help of SPSS for windows 12.0 and Microsoft Excel. The results show that the process-genre approach based on recitation has a better effect on the improvement of the students' writing skills than each individual approach. They also indicate that most students gain noticeable confidence in English writing and develop fine writing habits and strategies, which are shown in their better quality writings and their answers in the survey and interview.
