Research On Socialist Core Values Education Of College Students In Southern Xinjiang

Values education is a dynamic subject. Since the mankind enters the 21st century, with the development of economic globalization and the progress of China's modernization, The whole society has undergone huge changes. China is currently in a critical period of social transition with drastic changes, where the social life and social culture tend to be more diversified and complicated, causing people's values developing towards unprecedented complexity and diversification. Values education of contemporary college students is facing a new environment filled with new situations, new contradictions and new problems. How to correctly understand and grasp the values of contemporary Chinese college students, especially their core values, address the problems existing in their core values and make objective and prudent analysis of causes of these problems has become an imperative issue in China's current higher education. Therefore, we should according to the requirements of socialist core value system for contemporary Chinese college students extract the due core values Chinese college students should establish, actively explore ways to strengthen the cultivation of college students' values and improve the pertinency and effectiveness of values education of college students. This paper attempts to explore these issues in an in-depth and systematic manner, thus selected college students in southern Xinjiang as respondents to study core values education. The direct cause of this research is the "CPC Central Committee and the State Council's Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Education of College Students" promulgated in October 2004, which while fully affirming the positive, healthy and upward mainstream of contemporary college students'ideological and political state points out that "the profound changes in international and domestic situations have posed serious challenge to the ideological and political education of college students. This paper is divided into five parts:the first part is introduction; the second part is overview of the core values of college students; the third part is analysis of the status quo of core values of college students in southern Xinjiang, the fourth part is using such methods as questionnaire and interview to investigate and analyze the status quo of the core values of college students in southern Xinjiang, as well as the cultivation of core values of college students in southern Xinjiang according to the theories of ideological and political education; the fifth part is conclusion.
