As the foundation of students to learn the second language,teacher feedback has gained wide attention by scholars both at home and abroad.Under the background of the new curriculum reform in our country,students' English communicative abilities are gained more attention too.Therefore,teacher feedback in classroom interaction has become more and more important.The types and quantities of teacher feedback will direct influence the enthusiasm of students' learning.Whether it is appropriate or not will affect the quality of teaching in Junior High School.In view of this,to study the teacher feedback in classroom interaction has a very important practical significance.However,domestic researches in this area mainly focus on college and senior high school,and the research directed towards the junior high school is relatively less.In order to obtain more information on the current situation of teacher feedback,characteristics and student's attitudes towards teacher feedback,the author selects two classes in grade 8 in Jiaozuo No.25 Junior High School as the survey subject.The study mainly focuses on the following questions:(1)What are the types and quantities of teacher feedback employed by the English teachers in the Junior High School?(2)What are the problems of teacher feedback in the Junior High School?(3)What are the attitudes of students toward teacher feedback?To answer the above questions,the author employ some feasible method,including classroom observation and classroom recording of the four teachers' lessons,and make the questionnaires for 10 teachers and 100 students who were taught by the teachers.Then the data are collected and analyzed by Excel.From the analysis of the data,it is found that teachers tend to employ simple positive feedback more than complex feedback.Second,teachers tend to adopt single variety feedback strategy,among which positive feedback and repetition are frequently employed.Third,compared with the novice teachers and the experienced teachers,it is summarized that the experienced teachers have mixed use the single feedback and complex feedback in the classroom interaction.But the novice teachers tend to adopt less variety of complex feedback as well as single feedback than the experienced teachers.At last,through the analysis of the students' questionnaires,it can be seen that encouraging,specific and detailed evaluation feedback is more popular with the students.Based on the above findings,the author put forward some suggestions on how to properly use teacher feedback in the classroom interaction in Junior High School.
