Simulation is a basic strategy used by children in language acquisition. Though the function of simulation in mother language acquisition has been widely discussed, there is still a lot about it to be studied in the field of pre-school children learning Chinese as a second language. Based on the authentic dialogues of Philippine pre-school children in Chinese classes, this paper analyses the basic and advanced simulation strategies they used, and then gives suggestions on teaching methods for different age group for reference. In the second, third, and fourth chapters, we analyze the rules and characters of the imitation of two groups by case study from three different aspects-the content, the way of imitation, and the awareness-of imitation. In the fifth chapter we put forward two models of teaching Chinese to foreign pre-school children according to the different imitation character between the two groups, namely “Topic Word” model for younger children and “Topic Sentence” model for elder children. And we make a conclusion in the sixth chapter.
