Study Of Journalism Education In Fudan University During Beibei Period (1938-1946)

In 1929, Journalism department of Fudan University was founded. News education which is on the right track has become outstanding in journalism education in China before the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War. After the Battle of Shanghai, the Department of Journalism moved westward with school, finally being settled in Beibei in the end of 1937. The Journalism Department of Fudan has never interupted during the period of the Anti-Japanese War, even in the rear home with the harsh conditions, it still adhere to the position of journalism education. It had stayed in Chongqing for eight years until returned to Shanghai in May 1946. During the eight years, Journalism Department from scratch, the recruitment of students scale expanding gradually, the curriculum improving continuously, the teachers stuff becoming more and more, teaching equipment was full day by day. Fudan journalism explore their suitable own development path in rear area, which become an ideal place for young students to learn the news.Putting “the war and journalism education” as the core, this paper takes Fudan journalism education as case study, systematically combs the historical materials and induces the development level of Fudan journalism education, wartime inward migration locus and its development after settling down in Chongqing. In the meantime, taking Xie Liuyi, Cheng Cangbo, Chen Wangdao as the core of study to discuss their outstanding contributions of the journalism education development during Wartime. This paper strives to return the journalism students? studying status, psychology changes, spiritual outlook during wartime, trying to draw the history prospect of wartime Fudan journalism department--- solemn but not pessimism, lack of material but rich in spirit.The article is divided into five parts which are the introduction part, three chapters part and a conclusion part. Chapter one is introduction, which mainly discusses the research significance, research scope and methodology and literature review etc. Chapter two focuses on exploring the develop level of journalism department before wartime,and make a simple combing with the migration process of the journalism department. The third part takes the journalism department?s arrival as a starting point, discusses the development of the journalism department in the period of Beibei, Including the construction of faculty team, the changes of the curriculum, the progress of the academic research, the students? practice and internship and the development of some related news events, etc. The fourth part reviewing on the development of journalism education, explaining the significance of inland, exploring the journalism education thought of the key figures during the wartime, and noting the problems of journalism education. The epilogue part refers the other journalism departments during the Wartime in Chongqing, further expands the horizon and demonstrates the significance of journalism department to pushing on the professionalism, being Chinese and modernization of journalism education by putting it on the course of China?s journalism education development.
