With the development of synchronized swimmers, synchronized swimming has become increasingly more competitive and has higher requirements for the abilities of athletes. It can be seen in the major swimming events that it is the common case that the one with better physical stamina can attain final in the case of similar level of technique and physical arrangement. This paper is aimed at identifying the core physical elements needed for synchronized swimming through exploring characteristics of synchronized swimming in depth. The comparison of physical fitness between national synchronized swimmers and the world will be done to find out the gaps. The comparison of physical training method between China and the world will be made to find out shortcomings, which will be improved in further training.This paper studies the performance of China and Japan teams in the 15 th Asian Games synchronized swimming final as well as China and Russia, the Spanish team's performance in the London 2012 Olympic synchronized swimming final through the various methods including literature, expert interviews and comparative study. It can be concluded that through collecting and analyzing physical training methods of Chinese synchronized swimming since 2004 and comparing with physical training method in Japan and Spain:1. Synchronized swimming needs a combination of aerobic and anaerobic capacity, in which the physical strength is very important in the physical stamina. The core strength and speed force are leading factors determining the physical strength.2. Through the study of performance of our athletes and world's in the competition, it can be seen that our synchronized swimmers have weaker strength in the core area; there a gap in the strength of small muscle and collaborative ability; relatively weak in of speed force leg muscles; they are quite different in explosive and anaerobic capacities.3.It can be seen through the analysis of fitness training in synchronized swimming that we focus on the strength training as well as taking into account the speed, endurance and flexibility training. We attach much important to flexibility training; however, the training load is relatively small, mainly land-based training and less training methods for the core area under the in stable condition.
