The biology curriculum standard puts forward to advocate the inquiry learning.Scientific inquiry needs to obtain facts and evidences through observation and experiment and to analyze,judge and draw the conclusion from the evidence and data.Therefore,it is of great significance to measure the students' ability to apply scientific evidence and to find the problems and to put forward the solution.This paper makes the grade standard of the first and second grade students' ability to apply scientific evidence by reading the literature related to PISA(The Program for International Student Assessment),and works out the test measuring the students ' ability of applying scientific evidence in the biological discipline,and does the student and teacher questionnaires.This paper analyzes the present situation of the students' ability of applying scientific evidence.Through the students' test,we found that most of the students in grade one and grade two are in the middle level of the application of scientific evidence.Through the teachers' questionnaire,we found that the teaching activities related to the application of scientific evidence are little in the junior middle school.Through the students' questionnaire,we found that the students' ability of applying scientific evidence and the urban and rural areas,gender,grade factors have no significant relationship.The students' ability and the nature of science,reasoning ability and inquiry learning have a significant relationship.Considering the situation of students' ability level is not high,this research carries on the preliminary research from the aspects of teachers,and puts forward some teaching strategies,in order to better develop junior high school students' ability of applying scientific evidence.(1)Join the history of Biology science to classes and make students feel the importance of scientific evidence;(2)Flexibly explore activities in the application materials to develop students' ability of applying scientific evidence;(3)Organize the results reporting,communication and evaluation activities to improve students' ability of applying scientific evidence.This research helps to improve teachers' understanding of students' ability of applying scientific evidence,helps teachers organize science inquiry teaching better,and improve students' ability of applying scientific evidence.
