Geometric intuition plays an important role in mathematics research and mathematics teaching and learning.It has a wide range of applications in modern mathematics and other scientific research fields.The mathematics curriculum of primary and middle school students in our country also attaches great importance to the development of students’geometric intuition.Therefore,this paper chooses geometric intuition as a core research topic,the main purpose of the study is to investigate the current situation of junior high school students’geometric intuition and the possible factors to influence junior high school students’ geometric intuition.The main work of this study is:(1)Define and identify the concept of geometric intuition,sort out the relevant research both at home and abroad.(2)Design the geometric intuition test to investigate the overall performance of seventh grade and eighth grade students’ geometric intuition and compare grade difference and gender difference.(3)Select several students with different geometric intuition to conduct interviews and do case studies to explore the factors that affect students’ geometric intuition.(4)Put forward some suggestions on how to develop the geometric intuition of junior high school students.The main research questions of this paper are as follows:(1)What is the overall performance of geometric intuition of junior high school students?(2)Is there any grade difference and gender difference in junior high school students’ geometric intuition?(3)What factors may affect the geometric intuition of junior high school students?The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The overall performance of geometric intuition of junior high school students is poor.(2)There is no significant difference in the overall performance of geometric intuition among students of different gender.(3)There are no significant differences in the overall performance of geometric intuition of seventh grade and eighth grade students,but there are significant differences in some test questions,mainly related to the content of knowledge.(4)Students’ geometric intuition performance mainly related to the students’ mathematical thinking quality,daily life experience and teachers’ teaching and training about students’ geometric intuition.
