| The secondary vocational students have a weak foundation and lack positive study attitude.They have great difficulty in listening comprehension in English tests.In recent years,a growing number of secondary vocational students,to raise their educational level,have chosen to take the special college entrance exam.In such a context,English listening teaching is increasingly highlighting its importance.In the research field of English Learning Strategies,the application of Metacognitive Strategies has gradually become a hot topic in English teaching and research.However,there is comparatively little research related to the students in college entrance examination class in the secondary vocational school.The thesis aims to study the effect of Metacognitive Strategy training on the removal of listening obstacles of the secondary vocational students and the improvement of their English listening ability.Tests,questionnaire surveys and interviews are taken as the research method.113 accountancy students in college entrance examination Class 87 and 89 Grade 3 in Changsha Vocational School of Finance and Economics are used as the research subjects.The research is mainly to study whether there is any change in the students’ mastery of Metacognitive Strategies before and after the experiment and what effect the strategies have on the students’ English listening.The results indicate that there was no obvious difference in the mastery of Metacognitive Strategies between the experimental group and the control group.After 16 weeks training,it has been found that there is a noticeable improvement in the mastery of strategies for the experimental group compared with that of the control group and with it comes the improvement in their ability of listening comprehension.The statistics reveal that the gap between the two groups is evident.It is shown that Metacognitive Strategy Training is helpful for students to strengthen their awareness and knowledge of the strategies and and it’s an efficient means to improve their listening ability.Furthermore,Metacognitive Strategy Training can also enhance students’ self-confidence and autonomy in learning English.The study has proved the feasibility of applying Metacognitive Strategies into English listening teaching in the secondary vocational school,which can also offer some enlightenment on English listening teaching. |
