The Study Of The Naming Tradition And Changes Of Huizhou Residents

For a person,name is a language symbol different from another;For an age,name is an important symbol that distinguishes it from other historical periods.Names will change with the change of the times.From the name of the content and form,we can explore the characteristics of the times,specifically in the political,economic,cultural,social,ideological and other aspects.This paper based on the Analysis of the Names on the Genealogies in Jixi Yingzhou Zhang’s family,explore the characteristics and the structural factors behind the family name in different periods,furthermore,through the analysis of the changing trend of the name,to study the course of social change.The name is not only as a symbol,but also as a kind of meaning.The meaning is the product of language use.Bourdieu put forward a theoretical system of the concept of symbolic power as the core concept to answer how social order is possible.Bourdieu stressed that the consolidation and maintenance of social order not only rely on the ideological control and force,more importantly,rely on symbolic power.In the process of analysis,the author will combine the theory of Bourdieu to analyse naming features by Zhang family in different period.The conclusion of this paper reveals the role of the social structure in the process of naming,and also reflects that the name is not only a symbol of communication,but also a symbol of power.It is important for us to grasp the villagers’ preference and naming rules in Yingzhou.Moreover,through the study of the tradition and change of a regional family in Huizhou,we can provide a new way of thinking for the study of Huizhou society.
