In recent years,the student centered teaching mode has gradually replaced the traditional teacher centered teaching mode.As one of the methods of English writing teaching in senior high schools,peer review is fully embodied in the concept of students as the main body.However,there aren't wide accepted procedures,principles or standards of the application of peer review.Teachers are using it by their own understandings.Therefore,it is necessary to study and analyze the situation of peer review applied on English writing in senior high schools.This paper is based on the theory of ZPD(zone of proximal development)and cooperative learning,and total of 240 students from a high school in Jilin province are selected as the subjects.Using the method of questionnaire,interview and text analysis,the main aim is to investigate the situation of peer review applied on English writing teaching in Senior High Schools with the purpose to provide some references for teachers in English Writing teaching.The author investigates students' attitude towards peer review through questionnaire and interview.The data of students' attitude from high-level group and low-level group is analyzed through SPSS.On the basis of analyzing the drafts reviewed by peers,the author summarizes the main focuses of comments and revisions made in the process of peer review.According to comparing the drafts reviewed by peers and the second drafts which are revised by themselves,the incorporation and effectiveness of peer review is analyzed.According to the research results,students hold a pretty positive attitude towards peer review on the whole.There is a significant difference between high-level group students and low-level group students in the attitude towards discussing in groups.As for the comments,students are more focusing on whether the hand writings are neatly lettered or not and whether the language is fluent without grammar errors or not.On the aspect of revisions,the number of revisions on vocabulary is the largest.The number of revisions on grammar is the second.It turns out that there are incorrect changes,deleted revisions and no change although the majority of the errors are corrected in the proper way.The application of peer review would be better,on condition that teachers would give more guidance to students.This study confirms the value of peer review applied on the teaching of English writing in Senior High Schools,and put forward some suggestions according to the results.
