With the development of The New English Curriculum Reform,the effective teaching has become the important and hot point.However,a good instructional design is the premise of the effective teaching.Specialized Standard,issued by the Ministry of Education in 2012,aims at making the English teachers become professional.Specialized Standard includes a lot of aspects.But the instructional design competence is in the first place among all the competences of English teacher.So researching on instructional design competence of senior high school English teachers topic will have a certain amount of theoretical and practical significance.Issues of this research are as follows:(1)To know the present condition of English teachers’ instructional design competence in senior high school.(2)To know the different characteristics of English teachers’ instructional design competence in senior high school.(3)To analyze the factors that affect the instructional design competence.(4)To explore the effective measures that improve the structure design competence of the English teachers in senior high school.Research has investigated 48 English teachers in senior high school in Wanzhou,Chongqing.The conclusions are as follows: the current level of English teachers’ instructional design competence in senior high school teachers is under the middle level and its elements develop diversely.The competence of understanding and practicing the principles of Curriculum Standard,the competence of designing the teaching content,thecompetence of designing the teaching process,the competence of designing the activities,the competence of designing the methods and strategies,the competence of analyzing the students,the competence of designing the teaching media,the competence of designing the teaching evaluation,the competence of the evaluation and reflection and the competence of designing the homework are above middle level.The competence of understanding and practicing the instruction design concept,the competence of analyzing the teaching materials and the competence of designing the teaching objectives lie in low mediate level.The teaching experience,the teaching level,the training and the reading have significant influence on the competence of instructional design of the high school English teachers.The educational background and the major have no significant influence on the competence of instructional design of the high school English teachers.Through the research,it is found that the teaching experience,the teaching level,the training and the the reading are main factors which affect the instruction competence of the senior high school English teachers.There are some strategies to cultivate and improve the instructional competence of the high school teachers: Teachers should learn more English instructional design theory to strengthen their self-cultivation.Teachers should link theory with practice practicing instructional design skills.Teachers should pay attention to the students’ feedback and teach the students in accordance of their aptitude.Teachers should take some courses regularly to train their teaching skills.Teachers should learn from others to cultivate and develop their teaching skills..Finally,schools and other education department should actively cooperate with teachers’ teaching to solve their worries.
