Effective English teaching is the result of effective Englishinstructional design, under the background of deepening educationreform and development in our country. Therefore, research oninstructional design competencies of the junior middle school Englishteachers topic will have a certain amount of theoretical and practicalsignificance.Issues of this research are as follows:(1) To clear the definition and structure of teachers’ instructiondesign competencies;(2) To know the present condition of English teachers’ instructiondesign competences in junior middle school;(3) To explore the factor that affects the instruction designcompetences of the English teachers in junior middle schools;(4) To explore the effective measures to improve the structuredesign competence of the English teachers in junior middle schools;Research through investigated80English teachers in juniormiddle schools in Lin fen, draw the following conclusions: the current level of English teachers’ instruction design competences in juniormiddle school teachers is under the middle level; its elements developdiversely. The competence of designing the teaching process and thecompetence of understanding and practicing the principles ofCurriculum Standard are develop a higher level; the competence ofunderstanding and practicing the instruction design concept,analysis competence of the learner’s characteristics and studydemand analysis, the instructional strategy and method designcompetence, instructional content analysis competence, theinstructional media designing competence, the competence ofrethinking the instruction design, the competence of designing theteaching activities are under the middle level. The competence ofinstructional evaluation design, the competence of homework design,the competence of analysis textbook, the competence ofinstructional goal design are develop a lower level. The educationalbackground influences the English instructional design competencenotably; the teaching experience influences instructional contentanalysis competence notably, the reading influences the competenceof rethinking the instruction design notably, the training influencesthe competence of understanding and practicing the instructiondesign concept.Through questionnaire investigating and deeply interviewing, it isfund that the teachers, the Principles and request of curriculumstandard and the training of teachers are most import factors whichaffect the instruction competence of the junior middle school Englishteachers.The four effective measures to improve the instruction design competences of the junior middle school English teachers: Learnmore English instruction design theory; have a comprehensiveunderstanding of students, pay attention to the differences teaching;to study the new curriculum standard; to carry out the teachertraining and pay attention to improving the quality of training.
